Each year the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) invites members to submit entries for the Financial Planner of the Year Award.
The Award honours outstanding Financial Planners from across South Africa and is considered to be the highest accolade in the profession.
The prestige attached to winning means it is hotly contested.
Picture our pride then when in 2007 this honour was awarded to Ian Beere, one of the partners and lead financial planners in our very own office!
Debbie Netto-Jonker scooped the prize in 2001, the first time it was awarded.
Netto Financial Services is the only Financial Planning practice in South Africa to have one this coveted prize more than once!

Taking part in this competition has been described as being "an audit of one’s business by one’s peers".
The process is exceptionally thorough and works like this:
- Each entrant submits a practical case study which is closely scrutinized by the judges
- Based on performance in the case study, a short-list is compiled of the top candidates.
- Each short-listed candidate is paid a personal visit by the judging panel to inspect their practice and business systems.
- Each finalist is then interviewed and a final assessment is made, taking into account qualifications, client service, past achievements and community involvement.
Winning this award is truly a team effort. Without exceptional systems and dedicated staff it would not have been possible at all.
